A large component of our practice is ambulatory health care. This is where we visit the horses at our clients’ properties, agistment or training complexes. This is usually most convenient for clients, especially when they have several horses that need attention, emergency situations or horses that are difficult to transport. Many clients elect to have their horses seen at the hospital instead, even for routine procedures. There is a financial advantage in this in that no traveling fee is charged and there is a reduced consultation fee. But more importantly is that facilities are available, which enable a better diagnosis and treatment with far less difficulty.
